Cyclonic Storm Ditwah

Cyclonic Storm Ditwah has caused significant flooding, landslides, and damage to infrastructure across most of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka remains under a state of emergency.

Many areas, particularly in the central region (Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya), have impassable roads and damaged infrastructure. Several locations are currently inaccessible until rescue teams can provide status updates.

International flights to and from Sri Lanka are operating, but there may be some disruptions.

If you have air travel booked, please check with the airline before travelling to the airport.

If you are in Sri Lanka:

  • Monitor local media for updates, conditions vary depending on where you plan to travel.
  • Expect food and water shortages, especially in districts facing the loss of water infrastructure and contamination of wells, including Badulla, Kandy, Ampara, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam, and Kurunegala.
  • Adhere to any instructions and restrictions issued by local authorities.
